van der Sar Ruled Out For Eight Weeks

According to a report in The Sun, Manchester United have ruled out their starting goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar, for the next eight weeks with a hand problem.

The veteran Dutchman sustained the injury during the penalty shoot-out defeat to Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup last week, and scans revealed two broken bones in his left paw.

Fergie: City Won’t Rival Us

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson does not think that cross-town rivals Manchester City will threaten the Red Devils’ dominance this season, despite their high-profile summer forays into the transfer market.

“Given all that has happened in the transfer market this summer, it is a different type of challenge we are facing,” Ferguson told The Sun.

Costa Confident of United Move

Douglas Costa is confident that he will secure a move to Manchester United, despite the club’s unwillingness to pay Gremio’s asking price.

According to The Sun, Gremio no longer expect Man United to pay Costa’s €24 million buy-out clause, and have lowered the price to €20m.

According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, Manchester United have agreed to pay the £26 million demanded by Carlos Tevez’s owners to purchase his economic rights.

Apparently, all that is standing in his way of becoming a Red Devil on a permanent basis is reaching an accord with regard to wage demands.
